Enhance your naturally-gorgeous curves and show off your smooth, taut, sexy body!

We all have a goal when it comes to our body—an ideal shape we believe would be perfect for us—and we work hard to achieve that goal with a healthy diet and regular exercise. But unfortunately, many pockets of fatty tissue are stubbornly resistant to diet and exercise, and “Love handles”, “muffin tops”, and other unsightly bulges and lumps are nearly impossible to eliminate on your own. Liposuction (liposculpture) targets those problem zones to reveal the sleek, toned, sexy body of your dreams!*

Liposuction at Bloom Plastic Surgery in Chicago, IL is not a weight loss procedure. It is only appropriate for patients who are within 10-15 pounds of their goal weight and who have good skin tone. Liposuction surgically targets unwelcome and unsightly fatty tissue on most areas of the body, including:

• Arms
• Back
• Abdomen
• Waist
• Buttocks
• Thighs
• Hips
• Knees
• Chin

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jacob Bloom will work closely with you to develop a customized liposculpture plan optimized to address your unique problem zones and reveal the taut, sexy body that you have been unable to achieve through diet and exercise alone.

How does liposuction work?

Liposuction works by gently vacuuming out excess fat cells in the target zones. A cannula—a thin, hollow tube—is inserted under the skin through a small incision. The fat cells are inundated with tumescent fluid which makes them expand and stiffen, enabling them to be suctioned out of the body. The fluid also helps reduce discomfort while minimizing bleeding and bruising.

Once the fat cells are removed from the body, they cannot grow back. However, weight gain after liposuction is still possible because remaining cells continue to grow and expand. It is critical to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regime and avoid weight gain to maintain long-term results.

Required recovery after liposuction

Liposuction is the most powerful body contouring options available today, but it is still a surgical procedure and involves the potential for risk and complications. It also requires some rest and downtime to ensure proper healing. Dr. Bloom will ask you to wear a compression garment during the first week or more to help your body maintain its new shape during healing, as well as minimize post-operative swelling. Most patients can begin to resume their normal routine within a few days, although taking care to avoid to avoid activities that increase heart rate or blood pressure which can aggravate swelling. It is usually possible to slowly resume all normal activities within several weeks.
